A Message from Executive Director, Susan J. Kibbe
Dear Members,
The summer months are officially upon us. Thankfully most of us got some rain in June to see us through at least the first part of summer, and some in the southeastern part of South Texas got some significant rain from Hurricane Beryl. Even so, regular rain intervals would be much appreciated.
I’d like to remind you to give James Clement a call if you have any interest in discussing a possible carbon sequestration deal with your ranch lands. An education on the topic is warranted, and James is just the person to reach out to. You can reach him at 214-683-0823.
Leadership and staff would like to thank Governor Greg Abbott for his hard work in helping make Texas the most secure southwest border state in the United States with his efforts with Operation Lone Star (OLS) and hiring Michael Banks as the Border Czar. The numbers now prove it as New Mexico, Arizona and California’s numbers skyrocket.
We had a very successful DPS/Landowner meeting in Brooks County on July 1st. The purpose of the meeting was to have the DPS OLS team and the OLS Prosecutors explain to Brooks County landowners how to file charges for criminal trespass if they so choose; how the process proceeds if they sign up, and where the offenders go if arrested. Our own Charles Maley also gave a brief overview of the criteria on applying for landowner compensation for damages caused by border security issues.
Our 19th Annual Meeting and Fundraising is coming up on October 17th. As you may know, this year the event will be held at the Omni Hotel in Corpus Christi. Please consider sponsoring, your support would help make this year’s event a great success!
We are here to help and serve. Reach out when you have a question or an issue.
Until next month,
Susan J. Kibbe
