Dear Members,
As we enter only the eighth month of a new four-year Presidential Administration, how do we south Texans proceed in the current environment? One where the government is placing the rights of non-citizens above the rights of law-abiding citizens who try to uphold the rule of law. The same citizens are then slapped with more regulations and the chipping away and eroding of their constitutional freedoms.
Non-government organizations (NGOs) are being reimbursed with COVID stimulus monies that were meant to create stability for the working men and women in this country during a pandemic, but instead have been diverted for dealing with the mass of humanity arriving at our southern border at the invitation of the current Administration. All the while, the landowner suffers real property damage caused by the policy and are left with no reimbursement.
NGOs are now overseeing immigration enforcement, allowing migrant criminals to be set free within our borders. It’s disheartening and depressing. How do we overcome it? That is something as an association that we will have to address.
We will continue to educate the landowners about the 30 X 30 plan, the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the planned efforts of the current Administration with their open borders policy.
We greatly appreciate Governor Abbott’s efforts on the State level although it’s an uphill battle. We also appreciate the bipartisan efforts of Congressmen August Pfluger, Tony Gonzales, Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez who are sponsoring H.R. 4896, that would use $300 million in unspent COVID rescue dollars to reimburse ranchers and farmers for property damage caused by illegal immigration.
We have several webinars planned to finish out the year. This month the topic will be the 87th Legislature successes achieved by STPRA. It is tentatively planned for August 18 at 11:30am. It will be recorded and the recording will be sent out to those who register. We plan another Border Security webinar in September.
Our Annual Meeting & Fundraiser is shaping up nicely for October 14th near Encino. Please make plans to sponsor, donate items, attend and bid on our silent and live auction items!
We appreciate all of you and look forward to seeing you soon!
Until next month,
